I’m very into emohardcore (what’s in a name) like At the Drive-In, Thursday, the Mars Volta, Sparta… Crazy hooks, changing rythms, fantastic voices, screams and a pulsing drive.

It’s not all international you know. One belgian band manages at least the same level as the groups above. They even sound a bit as Radiohead, on crack, that is, but that cannot be bad, isn’t it? They are called the Sedan Vault. (more about them about to come)

Their debut-EP ‘Mardi Gras of the Sisypha’ is a concept album with 6 songs and it really rocks!

Now I want to point your attention at FabChannel. A Dutch site that covers a lot of live concerts in the Netherlands. You can check out whole concerts in streaming video. And what’s more. Now you can even make your own FabPlayer and embed that like it’s a YouTube-video on your blog.

And yes, there is a concert from the Sedan Vault on it. Featuring two yet unreleased tracks. [Communism By the Gallon (of Gasoline) & Pretorians]
Made my own player with this songs, but guess what? I think wordpress doesn’t support the FabChannel player…

They all come together again! Even the Smashing Pumpkins. Guess it has something to do with the high concert ticket prices. More money to gain!

But hey. They may! Bands as the Pumpkins & Rage Against the Machine very moulded my musical taste. Call it youth sentiment, and there’s is nothing wrong with that.

Coachella is a very sunny outside festival in Indio, Calfornia (U.S.) Palmy beaches. Sunny sky. At least I presume. (look at the pic above of Bloc Party at Coachella 2006) Anyway. They managed to set two marvelous reunions. RATM (just for once) and the Jesus and Mary Chain. Let’s call this WAAAAW…

Hitch is a very clean rock trio out of Oalbeke. A town which has only fame from a traffic changer. They are allready together for more than 10 years. Pukkelpop main stage, 5 times Dour Festival, more than 10 European tours, 2 in America and more than 100 clubshows with bands such as Girls Against Boys, At the Drive-In, Trans Am, Karate, Ash…

Live a real demonstration how a rock trio has to sound: straight into your face! In January 2006 they went to Croatia to record their 4th album. It became a pearl. It’s magic, it’s electric. We are Electric!

Sukilove doesn’t suck in making music. It’s music that makes one happy. At least it makes ME so. Sukilove is the band of Pascal Deweze, one of the illustrous Metal Molly (no metal at all, just a fun name. they had a great hit in Belgium with Orange) I really cannot give a description for this band. The music settles for a course between noise, fucked up acoustic sounds and mild melodies. Give it a try for yourself. (they have a brand new cd!)

Deportivo La Coruña

I used to be a great supporter of the Spanish Soccer club Deportivo La Coruña. Nowadays one hardly hears from them, but they used to play very attractive and offensive football. I remember one match in the European Champions League where they needed something like a 5-0 win. And they DID it!

Anyway, this is a music log. Not one for soccer.

There is a great belgian postrock band with a song called Deportivo. And that one is for free download! Jiha!

tomàn makes songs out of the flemish clay. Typical postrock songs. Long and slow climaxes. Yet they made allready two albums. Deportivo is a track from the first one: “Catching A Grizzly Bear, Lesson One”. A nice debut, but suffering a bit from the typical postrock-disease: a lack of originality over the whole album.

With the title of their second longplayer, Perhaps We Should Have Smoked The Salmon First, they seem to apologise for their immaturity on their debut. And it helps. The album is a lot stronger now.
